What to pack:
Passport!! Make sure to renew/obtain one if needed
Bathing suits!
Hats, Sunglasses
Comfortable clothing and shoes For excursions, preferably ones you don't mind getting a bit wet/dirty
Water shoes And/or sandals you can get wet and that have a strap to stay on your feet for water activities and zip-lining. Tevas and Keens are great for this.
Nicer clothes for dinner Men: pants and shoes are required for dinner at the different resort restaurants
Small $ bills for tipping If you would like, although not required. Gratuities are included at the resort.
Pepto and Imodium Just in case you find yourself with a bout of Montezuma's Revenge
Sunblock and Aloe Warning: the sun here can get pretty intense, just ask Kristen!
Insect Repellent For certain areas
Biodegradable sunblock/Insect repellent If you plan to go to any eco-parks/natural habitats, swim in the cenotes or underground rivers, or go snorkeling, these are often encouraged or mandatory. This is because the chemicals in regular sunblocks/bug repellents can damage coral, the local ecosystem and rock formations. You can always purchase these items once you have arrived, but it may be at a premium. We recommend purchasing some before your departure. Here are some guidelines as to what kinds are safe to use. We purchased both sunblock and insect repellent from Mexitan and were pleased with them. Also, more info from Yahoo and the EWG.
If you forget something, no worries, there are plenty of stores and even a Walmart nearby!
